Using combined chromatographic methods, four steroidal sterols were isolated and characterized from methanol extract of the roots of Allium ascalonicum . Their chemical structures were elucidate as 26‐ O ‐ β‐ D‐glucopyranosyl‐(25 R )‐furost‐5,20(22)‐diene‐1 β, 3 β, 26‐triol 1‐ O ‐α‐L‐rhamnopyranosyl‐(1→2)‐ α ‐L‐arabinopyranoside ( 1 ), 26‐ O ‐ β‐ D‐glucopyranosyl‐(25 S )‐furost‐5,20(22)‐diene‐1 β, 3 β, 26‐triol 1‐ O ‐α‐L‐rhamnopyranosyl‐(1→2)‐ α ‐L‐arabinopyranoside ( 2 ), (24 S ,25 S )‐3 β ,24‐dihydroxyspirost‐5‐en‐1 β ‐yl O ‐ α ‐L‐rhamnospyranosyl‐(1→2)‐ α ‐L‐arabinopyranoside ( 3 ), 1 β, 3 β ‐dihydroxypegna‐5,16‐diene‐20‐one 1‐ O ‐ α ‐L‐rhamnopyranosyl‐(1→2)‐ α ‐L‐arabinopyranoside ( 4 ) by a combination of extensive 1D‐, 2D‐NMR, HRESIMS spectroscopic data analysis and in comparison with those reported in the literature. This is the first report of 4 from Allium genus.
