Persistence — the rate of first‐year students returning to college at any institution for their second year — fell by 2% for students who started in 2019, the largest drop since the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center started tracking the information. That's according to the NSCRC Snapshot report Persistence and Retention: Fall 2019 Beginning Cohort .
