I didn't want you to think that, from the previous three columns, all of your Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act questions can be solved by using the three‐question approach. Although those three questions can help you determine the proper path for disclosing education records, that approach doesn't cover all the situations where you need to make FERPA‐compliant decisions. This is especially true when the human element is involved. And in most cases, the decision to be made boils down to your knowledge of FERPA and professional judgment.
