Damon Stevens came to California State University‐San Marcos for the first time as a transfer student from a local community college. By that time, he'd already served a full career in the Navy. With his military background, Stevens was asked to serve as student‐veteran peer mentor and tasked with assisting fellow student‐veterans with the transition from active duty to higher education. Stevens was then hired as a quality service representative in Enrollment Management Services, providing support to current students under the university registrar and support to prospective students under the director of admissions.
