PHOENIX — On the first day of class for the fall semester of 2016, Salt Lake Community College canceled 72 classes across its 10 campuses. “That is disastrous for students,” said Nate Southerland, Ph.D., associate provost for academic support at SLCC. That sort of widespread cancellation of classes can throw a student's schedule out of whack for an entire semester and derail on‐time completion efforts, he added.
