Are your student‐workers getting valuable experiences that support your institution's academic mission and that might encourage them to go into the registrar profession? When Rodney Parks became registrar at Elon University, student‐workers in the office were severely underutilized. They were taught just basic skills to help with routine office tasks. And they weren't expected to act professionally, even showing up to work poorly dressed. “If you look across the country, our utilization of student‐workers is not good,” Parks said.
