The challenges posed by men with type 2 diabetes differ from those of women with the condition. Men are more prone to being overweight, leading to a higher incidence of diabetes, which in turn is associated with lower testosterone levels. Brian Karet discusses the implications for commissioners of primary care diabetes services. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons
