The Environmental Auditing Roundtable recently promulgated the Standards for the Performance of Environmental, Health, and Safety Audits that are featured in this article. With many global initiatives converging in the development of environmental auditing and management standards, this document represents a vital building block, unique from many others in that it was built by a broad‐based consensus effort of actual practitioners. Over 95 percent of the Roundtable members who voted on the standard endorsed it.
