Advising students in the arts is a difficult and often perplexing task that is being complicated by the realities of change both within and outside higher education. While there are no easy solutions or answers for the arts adviser, there are principles and philosophic viewpoints that can help to make the process of advising more profitable and honest both for the adviser and the student.
