Algeria has undertaken sweeping reforms in recent years. In spite of adverse circumstances, the country is growing in importance as an American trade partner. Historically, Algeria's fate has always had a direct impact, positive or otherwise, on others. Currently, however, a dearth of communication has deprived many actors on today's increasingly interconnected economic global stage of basic and necessary information about Algeria, information that is important to the conduct of international business. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
