In this study, we show the lack of rotational invariance in the Artificial Bee Colony algorithm (ABC) through numerical experiments. After analysis from the viewpoint of rotational invariance, we develop an ABC with rotational invariance using a hypersphere. The performance of the proposed ABC with rotational invariance is verified through numerical experiments for typical separable benchmark functions without and with rotation. © 2020 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
