This article presents a blind adaptive detector based on an approximate oblique projector (AOP) for interference cancellation in direct‐sequence code‐division multiple‐access (DS/CDMA) system. An expression for obtaining the AOP from the inverse of the correlation matrix of received signals without a prior knowledge about the structured interference subspace is derived. Applying the matrix inversion lemma to compute the inverse of the correlation matrix is useful for updating the AOP. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed blind adaptive detector is suitable for a dynamic environment. © 2019 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
