For practice of lure casting, information on fly distance of lure and information on rod motion are helpful. In this letter, we propose a system for supporting practice of lure casting. In our system, a sensor device with acceleration and gyroscope sensors is attached at a rod and it collects sensor data during casting motion to estimate fly distance. The estimated fly distance and sensor data are displayed at a user's mobile device. Through experimental evaluations, we confirmed that the mean absolute error of fly distance estimation of our proposed system is 1.376 m. © 2018 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
