Since 2012, the subject “measurements and controls via computer programs” has been compulsory in technology education for junior high school students in Japan. However, there are few teaching materials available that students can use to compare automatic control and manual control in order to understand the usefulness of measurements and controls. In addition, there are few teaching materials that technology education teachers in junior high schools find easy to handle. Therefore, in this study, we aim to develop introductory teaching materials that can motivate students to learn about “measurements and controls via computer programs”. © 2018 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
