This letter presents a controller parameter tuning technique for systems with negligible friction by using the so‐called fictitious reference iterative tuning (FRIT) method. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the presented FRIT method, experiments are carried out with a DC motor control system. © 2017 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
