The possibility of application of very fast automated demand response aggregation of a cluster of building air‐conditioners to the load frequency control (LFC) of future smart grids is examined. An aggregation feedback control system design for the LFC is carried out by comparing the conventional first‐order delay and our asymmetric constant rate transfer functions of air‐conditioner power consumption. © 2016 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
