A simple and fast ring management token (RMT) wavelength reservation method for dynamic traffic in multi‐ring wavelength‐routed networks is proposed. The RMT is an agent that can control and manage the used wavelength in the network efficiently. We show that the proposed scheme achieves a high performance in terms of setup delay and loss probability. Copyright © 2009 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.
