The cover picture shows the design of a series of new catalysts based on complexation of earth abundant alkali and alkaline earth metals with different functionalized ligand systems to achieve synthesis of polyesters. Various functionalized cyclic esters were efficiently polymerized in a controlled, efficient, and predictable manner. The fact that these complexes can selectively catalyze the ring opening polymerization of readily available racemic lactide to give isoselective polylactides make them attractive eco‐friendly alternatives to rare earth and transition‐metal catalysts.
