This paper presents a summary of the career of the author associated with his selection as the 2006 Structural Engineer of the Year. It spans his days as a student at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, as a research engineer at the University of California, Berkeley, and his consulting experience with Computech Engineering Services and SGH Inc.
