At the fib symposium in Tel Aviv in April 2013, the fib Medal of Merit was awarded to Jean‐François Klein for his outstanding contributions to structural concrete and to fib . This issue of Structural Concrete pays tribute to his engineering achievements with a cover picture of the Third Bosporus bridge in Istanbul, currently under construction, for which Jean‐François Klein realized the conceptual design together with Michel Virlogeux and now serves as design project manager. The structure is a combined railway/road bridge with an overall deck width of 57 m. It will be the world's longest spanning railway bridge, with a distance of 1408 m between the two 325 m high towers (Photo: T engineering).
