Waxy maize amylopectin was treated with Pseudomonas isoamylase immobilized on magnetic supports in order to prepare various kinds of partial hydrolysates. The partial hydrolysates were fractionated by gel chromatography with Toyopearl HW 65F into three divisions according to molecular sizes. High performance anion‐exchange chromatography showed that the smalles division ( f‐3 ) of 7% hydrolysis contained a large number of short‐amylose‐chains consisting of 6∼14 glucosyl residues, indicating that chains existing in the outside of the amylopectin molecules were relatively short.
