Middle basic ion‐exchangers were prepared by reaction of 2,3‐epoxypropyldiethylamine (EPDA) with starch in the presence of water without base catalyst, i.e. by the autocatalytic reaction. In this paper, we report on the influence of individual reaction components on the degree of starch modification, which is expressed by the exchange capacity of ion‐exchanger prepared.
