Samples of 2‐O‐(2‐hydroxyethyl)‐D‐glucose, 3‐O‐(2‐hydroxyethyl)‐D‐glucose, and 6‐O‐(2‐hydroxyethyl)‐D‐glucose were made by allowing glucose derivatives containing suitable blocking groups to react with 2‐bromo‐ethanol, followed by removal of the blocking groups.
