Optimum performance and most efficient operation in the corn wet milling process requires total integration of all equipment. Each item of process equipment relates to the total system, each item has to have specific capabilities to meet the total system requirements. The authors describe with the help of flow sheets and material balances the interdependence of each milling step and equipment with special emphasis on the centrifugal equipment, its design, and performance characteristics.
