Synthesis of Branched Polysaccharides with Amylose as Carrier. In order the obtain model substances for naturally occurring branched polysaccharides different branching reactions were studied with amylose as carrier: The enzymatic branching with Q‐enzyme (tree structure) as well as the chemical branching through 1,6‐glycosidic linkage and hydrazone linkage (comb‐ and star structure). With Q‐enzyme more or less branched amylopectin‐like substances are obtained. With the chemical branching methods sugars, maltooligomers and — after phosphorolytic synthesis — even longer amylose branches are introduced as side chains.
