This chapter examines how social media impacts student‐athletes in intercollegiate athletics. Social media has become a predominant communication tool for younger athletes and carries both benefits and risks. The chapter discusses how social media can influence relationships between student‐athletes and support personnel, and outlines the benefits of providing social media education for student‐athletes.
