Abstract This chapter presents a brief overview of suicide rates among college students of differing racial, ethnic, ability, and sexual orientation backgrounds in the United States, followed by factors that affect mental health negatively. The chapter concludes with a description of the development of a novel approach to suicide prevention, as implemented at Pace University in New York City.
