The residual lattice strain/stress developed in steel during manufacturing process impacts its practical application in engineering structures. In the article, number 1700408 , scientists from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and their co‐workers report recent results of the residual lattice strain behavior before and after cold rolling by using the crystal elastic visco‐plastic finite element model and validation using nondestructive neutron measurements. The cover picture shows the lattice strain components represented in different sections of the orientation distribution function, where not only the residual lattice strain of individual grains, but also the corresponding grain orientation can be recognized.
