Creep deformation as well as damage evolution in nut bolt assemblies have been investigated. A damage model was developed, based on a combination of Kachanov theory and critical creep strain threshold. Exceeding the creep strain threshold cause initiation and growth of creep cavities. The model together with a modified Norton‐Bailey creep law was implemented in the user subroutine Creep of the FE code Abaqus. Verification of the computation was done by means of comparison with creep tests of nut bolt assemblies.
