It is experimentally confirmed that tinned steel sheet can be completely purified by electrolyzing with caustic solution. The concentrations of NaOH‐Na 2 CO 3 ‐ and Na 2 SnO 3 3H 2 O, and the temperature of electrolyte are important factors to influence the critical current density of passivation of Sn layer. These parameters are optimized by experiments with the orthogonal method.
