The excellent article of Tramonti follows a previous one from the same author, issuing the legacy of Gregory Bateson and suggesting an “ecology of psychotherapy”. It is concerned with another fundamental contributor to systems theory, Ludwig von Bertalanffy, and provides a sound basis for continued discussion of von Bertalanffy's general systems theory (GST). To encourage further research, this note is meant to initiate a discussion about a concept of elements that fundamentally differs from the one underpinned in GST and as also hypostasized in the Tramonti article.
