A program design methodology is proposed and an example is given using it for a small inventory system. The method depends on viewing a problem in terms of tokens that carry date information. This date information gives the date of the creation, and exit of the token from the active system. The source of creation and the place of exit are also coded into the token. The method is most useful in an environment that has time‐dependent, on‐line interactive processing.
