The syntax and implementation of an interpretive method for handling interrupts within the context of a small foreground‐background BASIC system are described. The implemented system can be used on an 8K NOVA minicomputer without background storage and is designed for data collection and process control in the laboratory. Non‐standard I/O devices can be easily serviced in the foreground.
