2D titanium/niobium (Ti/Nb) metal oxide (TNMO)‐based compounds have attracted increasing attention due to the fact that the contained octahedral structure of Ti 4+ ‐based TiO 6 and/or Nb 5+ ‐based NbO 6 can be facilely modified so as to achieve an enhanced photocatalytic performance for environmental remediation and energy conversion. Herein, the different synthetic methods for the construction of various 2D TNMO‐based photocatalysts are presented. Many basic principles, such as nanostructure design, doping, and construction of heterojunctions, are introduced to enhance the photocatalytic performance of 2D TNMO compounds. The relationship between the photocatalytic performance and regulation methods is also described. Furthermore, the photocatalytic applications of 2D TNMO‐based materials are discussed, including H 2 generation, removal of pollutants, CO 2 reduction, nitrogen photofixation, disinfection, and organic synthesis. Finally, the challenges and future development of 2D TNMO‐based materials are also discussed.
