PCOSS commits to meet the country's major strategic needs and carry out prospective basic research focusing on the major energy‐related chemical issues of solid surfaces and solid/gas and solid/liquid interfaces. We envisage to establish advanced experimental and theoretical methodology, to achieve an in‐depth understanding of structures and reaction mechanisms of solid surface/interfaces at atomic, molecular, and nanoscale levels, and to rationally design and fabricate advanced materials for catalytic and electrochemical systems. Ultimately, we endeavor to make signal contributions to solve critical socio‐economic problems related to energy, chemical, materials, life, environmental, and information sciences.
