A facile polymer‐assisted method achieves simultaneous exfoliation and noncovalent functionalization of MoSe 2 nanosheets. The nanosheet dispersion can further assemble into a novel “smart” nanocomposite hydrogel, whose dual‐responsive (photo‐ and thermoresponsive) behavior is reversible and can be controllably tailored by varying the distribution of hydrophilic and hydrophobic groups in the polymer.
