The overall kinetic distribution of bacterial extracellular vesicles and their inflamatory activity in vivo are described by D. Di Vizio, Y. S. Gho, and co‐workers on page 456. Bacterial extracellular vesicles, injected intraperitoneally, quickly distribute to the whole body, where they persist for 6 h and are then gradually eliminated, with minimal residual accumulation in the liver after 24 h. From a functional point of view, outer membrane vesicles induce early and late inflammatory reactions systemically and also in the lung, a distant organ.
