Comparative theoretical and experimental investigations are reported into chemically induced magnetism in atomically‐precise, ligand‐stabilized gold clusters Au 25 , Au 38 and Au 55 . The results indicate that [Au 25 (PPh 3 ) 10 (SC 12 H 25 ) 5 Cl 2 ] 2+ and Au 38 (SC 12 H 25 ) 24 are diamagnetic, Au 25 (SC 2 H 4 Ph) 18 is paramagnetic, and Au 55 (PPh 3 ) 12 Cl 6 , is ferromagnetic at room temperature. Understanding the magnetic properties resulting from quantum size effects in such atomically precise gold clusters could lead to new fundamental discoveries and applications.
