Superlattices of samarium‐doped ceria (SDC)/yttria‐stabilized zirconia (YSZ) are grown by pulsed laser deposition on (001) MgO with a SrTiO 3 buffer layer. The ionic conductivity shows a sizeable increase relative to SDC and YSZ bulk values. Such an enhancement is attributed to the epitaxial strain, an effect that is mostly confined in the YSZ layers.
