Ordered nanoporous templates and membranes with controllable thickness, interpore spacing, and pore diameter are fabricated using a combination of nanosphere lithography and aluminum anodization. These nanostructured materials possess a geometry (see scanning electron microscopy image) that is well suited for a variety of technological applications including biosensors, nanoscale filters, photovoltaics, and catalytic supports.
