An ordered assembly of amorphous Se nanoparticles is observed on photolithographically patterned substrates. In situ nucleation/growth of crystalline t‐Se nanowires and topotactic transformation into Ag 2 Se and CdSe nanowires (see image) occur from the patterned a‐Se islands.
