Growing up : By optimizing the use of surfactants, CdS nanowires originating from either zinc blende‐ or wurtzite‐structured seeds are grown in solution (see image). The aspect ratio of the nanowires can be tuned by varying the temperature. This simple and straightforward synthetic route may open a new door to the bottom‐up synthesis of semiconductor nanowires.
