Nanorods based on the use of small‐chain organic ligands as capping agents are synthesized. Neither strong ligands, such as phosphonic acids, nor high concentrations of the reactants are required. Favored crystallization along the c ‐axis in the wurtzite crystals results in nanorod formation (see image). Longer ligands and higher temperatures induce preferred particle crystallization in the spherical shape.
