An attractive method for producing metal/polymer composite nanowires of controllable composition is achieved by dealloying alloy nanowires and ‘backfilling’ the pores with an electropolymerized film while the wires are inside the membrane template (see scheme). The versatile preparation route could be extended to diverse composite nanowires, based on different polymers and metals, indicating great promise for a wide range of applications.
