Taking shape : Highly fluorescent CdTe nanocrystals were obtained in a one‐pot aqueous synthesis with air‐stable Na 2 TeO 3 as the Te source. Luminescent 1D nanowires (see confocal image) and 3D microhexagonal columns of CdTe–cystine nanocomposites were also prepared. The composites have the optical properties of the CdTe nanocrystals incorporated in the cystine matrices.
