The color and the shape: Rayleigh scattering from gold nanoparticles of discrete shapes, and from anisotropic gold nanorods, is presented (see light‐scattering image; inset: TEM image of hexagonal particles. Scale bar=100 nm). The observed trends for shape‐dependent light scattering from gold nanoparticles correlate well with those previously reported for analogous silver nanoparticles. In addition, polarized light scattering from gold nanorods is sensitive to their orientation.
