Quantized optical changes accompanying discrete core charging of hexanethiolate‐protected Au‐cluster films was evidenced by UV/Vis absorption spectroelectrochemistry. The film absorbance is found to respond proportionally and reversibly to the nanoparticle core charge in aqueous solutions (see Figure), where ion‐induced rectification of the quantized charging is also observed. These results represent a step forward in the development of sensory and electro‐optic nanodevices based on the singular performance of these films.
