Adding to antibodies : Ordered mesoporous silicas such as SBA‐15 may be used as adjuvants to carry, protect, and deliver entrapped antigens, thereby assuring efficient stimulation of antigen‐presenting cells and improving antibody responsiveness. Thus, SBA‐15 and related silica mesostructures seem to be promising nanosystems for vaccine delivery. Venom proteins from the Micrurus ibiboboca snake (see picture) were utilized in the study.
