Solid‐state thermolysis of a hexa‐ peri ‐hexabenzocoronene–cobalt complex (see diagram) yielded multiwalled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in near‐quantitative carbon‐conversion yield. Ordered “bamboo‐like” and straight CNTs were obtained under controlled heating procedures. Such a novel solid‐state synthesis of CNTs has promising applications in CNT‐based nanoelectronics.
