A new phosphine‐free Ruthenium complex bearing hemilabile thiophene‐based ligand is synthesized for the large‐scale catalytic hydrogenation of carbonyl compounds. The methodology is also applicable for the one‐pot synthesis of various benzhydryl active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
